Board of Trustees
Bot Chairperson: Deb Riach
Hi my name is Deborah Riach, I am a returning Board member having served for 3 years in the role of Chairperson. I have gained a lot of valuable experience in my role as Trustee at Loburn School and my interest in education has grown and expanded over the past 3 years. I have a background in business and I have really enjoyed the governance role of the Board. I am passionate about young people reaching their potential and will continue to support and guide the Board of Loburn School, to ensure we have a fantastic facility for nurturing and growing our young people’s minds and characters.
Principal: Stuart Priddy
This is my 8th year as principal of Loburn School and I am pleased to say that each year keeps getting better. My role on the board is to look after the day to day management of the school. This involves curriculum, staffing, finance and day to day management of property. Along with the management team we report to the board on behalf of the teachers the progress of the children across the curriculum as well as reporting on specific curriculum areas.
As a member of the board, our job is to ensure that the staff of Loburn School have the necessary support both in terms of resourcing and environment to give our children the best possible education. I am passionate about teaching and leading learning at Loburn School and feel we have a strong committed group of people at school who will progress our children to the next level.
Finance: David Humphreys
I have recently relocated to NZ with my NZ wife and our five children from Montana USA. Prior to this we have travelled extensively and lived in the UK, Italy, Singapore and the USA. Our children ages range from 23 to 8 and this wide range of ages has allowed us to be involved in the junior, middle, senior and tertiary education system in a wide variety of schools from small rural to large private institutions in different countries. My business experiences have largely been in the technology and semiconductor manufacturing industry in a number of senior management positions including Sales and Marketing, Operations, Service support and Logistics.
Finance: Duncan Lundy
Together with my wife Diana and my son Angus, we farm at Okuku. Angus attended Loburn School and now attends Rangiora High School. I have spent a number of years on the Loburn school board and in that time have had a number of positions including Health and Safety, Chairperson, Finance and now the Audit Committee.
I have seen the school role double in this time which has brought a large number of changes and challenges. One of the biggest challenges is and will always remain is being at the forefront of delivering the best we can in an ever changing world and protecting the identity of a rural school like Loburn.
I look forward to working with the school community, staff and board members.
Property: Mark Dando
I have lived in Loburn for 10 years with my wife Nancy and our two sons, Josh and Ben. In 2008 I was co-opted onto the board to support the school with property development. The building project just completed has been challenging but very rewarding. The construction of the new library has greatly enhanced the profile of the school and it is a complex we should all be proud of.
I have thoroughly enjoyed being a part of the board and I can see a very positive future for our children.
Community Liaison: LeeAnne Macready
My husband Andrew and I have two daughters at Loburn School, one in Korimako and the other in Pukeko. We have been members of the Loburn School Community since 2008, during which time I have been actively involved with the Home and School Committee. This year I have taken the opportunity to become further involved with the school by joining the Board of Trustees.
As a Parent-Elected Representative of the Board, my purpose is to assist in providing the best possible outcome for all students of Loburn School. I fully support the National Curriculum Vision that our young people develop as confident, connected, actively involved lifelong learners. I am committed to ensuring that all children at Loburn School are treated as individuals and are supported to reach their full learning potential.
Personnel: Neil Hamilton
Neil has been a professional Management Consultant and Company Director for 20+ years, working for and with large organisations in various parts of the world. He has lived in Loburn for five years and during this time has enjoyed receiving the school's Fruit and Fleece newsletters. Now that the lifestyle block and various businesses are starting to get established Neil finally has some time and energy to put into community endeavours, such as assisting with school governance. Neil shares the chores on the lifestyle block with his wife Louise and they have various two and four legged friends for company.
Health and Safety: Graham Milburn
This is my second term on the Board of Trustees as the Health & Safety representative. I am the father of two Loburn School pupils and have lived in the area for 4.5 years. I am the Branch Manager of McApline Hussman Refrigeration in Christchurch which employs 25 staff. I have a background in Engineering, Refrigeration, Fitting & Turning and Electrical.
Staff Representative: Rebecca Milburn
I am the staff representative on the Board. I have been teaching at Loburn in the New Entrant/Year 1 class for the last 5 years and love being part of this awesome school. Prior to Loburn I was teaching at Waikari and was the staff rep on the Board there for 2 ½ years.
I believe that the education the children receive at Loburn is of an exceptional standard. Being a full Board member and a staff member allows me insight into the work done behind the scenes to help achieve this.
